ancient swamp kauri gumlamps amber hero image

Swamp kauri is ancient New Zealand kauri wood preserved underground for thousands of years, giving it rich colour and unique grain. Kauri gum (amber) is the tree’s natural resin, aged over time into warm golden tones. Both are rare and irreplaceable, with some pieces over 40,000 years old, which is why they’re used only for special gifts and heirlooms meant to be treasured and passed down.

The value of Kauri

The value of our Kauri is determined by age and rarity, the beauty of the grain, the clarity of the gum, and, most importantly, their size. Each of these factors adds to the unique appeal and overall worth . These Ancient Artifacts bring a touch of nature’s elegance and design into any space.

Custom Kauri Creations Made to Order

We create bespoke kauri timber and resin pieces, made to order and built around your ideas, your space, and your materials of choice.

Each custom build can include New Zealand–sourced elements, carefully placed into the timber or resin, such as:

  • Kauri gum (NZ amber)
  • Greenstone / jade / nephrite
  • Paua and other native shells
  • Selected native Fauna inclusions

From tables, benches, slabs, and wall pieces to one-off resin art, every creation is designed collaboratively you choose the size, layout, materials, and finish, and we handle the build from start to finish.

No two pieces are ever the same.
Every custom work is made once, made properly, and built to last.

A Collaborative Network, Not Just One Workshop

Some ideas need more than one set of hands.

If your artistic vision sits outside our in-house capabilities, we don’t stop the conversation we expand it.

Through our Kauri Collaborative Network, we work alongside carvers, sculptors, artists, and specialist makers across Aotearoa New Zealand. This allows us to connect your project with the right craftsperson for the job, whether that’s detailed carving, sculptural work, complex stone setting, or large-scale artistic builds.

Because we source materials and collaborate at scale, we can also help you access a wider range of materials, techniques, and design options often at better pricing than approaching individual makers separately.

You bring the idea.
We find the right people to make it happen.
