The finger nail test
Kauri gum is the same density as a finger nail on the mors hardness scale, amber is closer to the density of bone
Sniff test
After the finger nail test if it smells beautiful like Gmoncense found in your local store its probably kauri gum.
Melt test
Put it in the sun the fresh gum will melt more easily, copal will get surface warpage or cracking, amber will have little change
